Reaffirming its brilliant, long-standing tradition in the field of German Opera, the Teatro Colón presents one of the most perfect titles given to the lyric art by Richard Strauss: The Woman Without a Shadow. Premiered by Erich Kleiber in 1949, then directed by Ferdinand Leitner and Marek Janowski, this piece returns in its quest to follow the path of the Great Masterpieces, with a cast leaded by international figures.

This lyric season will be closed by a second tribute to Giuseppe Verdi. The Fura dels Baus returns to the Teatro Colón to co-produce a rescued version of the original masked ball, destroyed by the censorship of its time due to its plot’s political realism. A renewed production commits to giving new birth to the true story known for having motivated the Italian genius to create one of his most committed, most vibrant music compositions.
