Born in Puerto Rico, she studied at Juilliard School and perfected her skills at the Houston Grand Opera. Among her most important works her roles as Micaela in Carmen at the Metropolitan Opera and Rusalka at the Glyndebourne Festival (United Kingdom) stand out. She has played the roles of Carmen, Marguerite in Fausto, Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte, Florencia in Florencia en el Amazonas, Cio-Cio San in Madama Butterfly, Alice Ford in Falstaff, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Nedda in Pagliacci, Musetta in La bohème, Elisabetta in Don Carlo and Tatiana in Evgueni Onieguin. She has performed in theaters such as Florida Grand Opera, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Houston Grand Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago. Her discography includes Songs and Arias (2005), Rusalka (2010) and Amor, vida de mi vida (2009).
