He works regularly with major orchestras including the San Francisco Symphony, North Holland, Munich Radio, Scottish Chamber, BBC Symphony and São Paulo, National Symphony of Portugal, USA and Argentina, State of Florida and Buenos Aires Philharmonic Orchestra. He has conducted operas for the English National Opera, Aldeburgh Festival (England) and the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. Since 2012 he has been the artistic director of the Camellia Symphony Orchestra in Sacramento, the capital of California.
Besides conducting symphonic, chamber and opera repertoire, Baldini has been a great promoter of contemporary music with world premieres of more than eighty works. He has worked closely with composers such as Brian Ferneyhough, Sir Harrison Birtwistle, Steven Stucky, Philippe Hurel, Fabian Panisello and Steve Mackey.
He has recorded for the Linn label works by Mozart, conducting the Scottish Chamber Orchestra with soprano Elizabeth Watts. The album has been nominated for the International Classical Music Awards and has received critical acclaim. He has also conducted and recorded contemporary Italian music for the RAI through the record label Tactus.
Baldini is a composer and his music has been performed by the Munich Radio Orchestra (Germany), Orchestre National de Lorraine (France), Southbank Sinfonia (London), New York Music Ensemble, Memphis Symphony Orchestra, Contemporary Musicians of Israel, Daegu Chamber Orchestra (South Korea), Chronophonie Ensemble (Freiburg) and Modern Ensemble (Frankfurt). His music has been recorded on CD through the Pretal label.
