American singer Christina Major first sang Norma in 2017 with the West Bay Opera in San Francisco and recently played the roles of Mimi in La bohème with the Forth Worth Opera (Texas), Elektra in Idomeneo at the San Jose Opera (California), Violetta in La traviata in Coeur D'Alene and Constanza in El rapto en el serrallo at the Midsummer Mozart Festival in San Francisco. She was highly acclaimed for her interpretation of Verdi's Missa da requiem. In Buenos Aires she made her debut in 2006 as a soloist of Brahms' German Requiem with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and has developed an intense career as a concert performer. Her repertoire range from Handel to Beethoven, up to Richard Strauss, some of which she performed, for instance, at the Carnegie Hall with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra. She also performed with the Delaware Symphony Orchestra, National Philharmonic, Colorado Symphony, Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra and Phoenix Symphony. Major began her career at the San Jose Opera under the tutelage of mezzo-soprano Irene Dalis. As a member of the company she performed one hundred performances in eight roles, a valuable experience in her early years as a professional artist. She won the Licia Albanese Puccini Foundation and the Gerda Lissner Foundation awards, as well as the International Singing Competition at the Trujillo Festival (Peru) and the Dallas International Competition.
