Julian Kuerti


Born in Canada, he is one of the most significant interpreters of orchestral and operatic music worldwide. Principal Guest Conductor of the Metropolitan Orchestra of Montreal and Principal Conductor of the Symphonic Orchestra of Concepción in Chile, this season he conducted the Swedish orchestra Vasteras Sinfonietta, a concert with cellist Jakob Koranyi with compositions by Haydn and Mozart, a production of The Magic Flute in Montreal, and works by Hindemith, Barber and Beethoven with the Deutsche Radio Symphony, with violinist Nemanja Radulovic. He also conducted Beethoven's Triple Concerto, Prokofiev's Fifth Symphony with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra with compositions by Ross Edwards, Mendelssohn and Rachmaninov.
Last season he performed with the Montreal Metropolitan Orchestra in a concert with works by Tchaikovsky, Glière, Morel and Joseph Haydn's The Seven Last Words of Christ. He conducted the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra in Norway, with the pianist Leif Ove Andsnes, and was invited again to conduct Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 with the Orquesta Santa Cecilia de Madrid. He recently conducted a new production of Carmen with the National Symphony of Peru. On numerous occasions he has conducted the German Symphony Orchestra in Berlin, the Radio Symphony Orchestra Berlin and the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra.
He has also conducted the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, the Luxembourg Philharmonic, the Bournemouth Symphony, the Monte Carlo Symphony and the Swedish Chamber Orchestra.
