Néstor Garrote


Principal Oboe of the Buenos Aires Philharmonic Orchestra. He began his studies in Argentina and continued them since 1985 at the Hochschule für Musik in Bern and Zurich.

In Argentina he premiered Zimmermann's Oboe Concerto, Lutoslawski's Double Concerto, Messiaen's Concert a quatre and Berio's Chemin IV. 

He performed with the Queen Sofia Chamber Orchestra, Freiburger Kammerorchester, Serenata Basel and Symphonisches Orchester Zürich, among others. In 1992 he moved to Spain, where he was Principal Oboe of the Orquesta de Córdoba and member of the faculty of the Joven Orquesta de Andalucía. 

Since his return to Argentina in 2001, he has given courses and masterclasses at music festivals throughout Latin America. He is a founding member and director of Oboefest (Rosario), one of the main international oboe congresses (2011/14). He conducted the Chamber Orchestra of Chile in concert series dedicated to the repertoire for wind instruments.
