He has performed at theatres such as the Metropolitan Opera, alla Scala in Milan, the Vienna State Opera, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Paris Opera, the Berlin Staatsoper, the Sydney Opera House and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
Born in Albania, he obtained Italian citizenship and his recent performances include The Condemnation of Faust (Bolshoi Theatre), Rigoletto and King Roger (Royal Opera House), La Traviata (New York Met, Santa Fe Opera and Berlin State Opera), The Magic Flute (alla Scala), L'elisir d'amore (in Vienna and Berlin) and Lucia di Lammermoor (Los Angeles, Naples), among many others.
He has collaborated with musical directors such as Riccardo Muti, Claudio Abbado, Mariss Jansons, Zubin Mehta, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Lorin Maazel, Seiji Ozawa, Antonio Pappano and Daniel Barenboim. His upcoming engagements include Madama Butterfly (Zurich Opernhaus), Simon Boccanegra (Naples) and Romeo and Juliet (Barcelona), among others.
