Steven John Woodgate


He joined the artistic staff of the Houston Ballet in 2004. Graduate of the Australian School of Ballet, he rose to the rank of Senior Artist in 1996. Two years later, he received the Victorian Green Room Award (Melbourne) for best dancer for the role of Bim in Gaîté Parisienne. He danced roles such as Colas and Alain (La fille mal gardée), Franz (Coppelia), Bronze Idol (La bayadera), Gremio (La fierecilla domada), Goro (Madame Butterfly by Stanton Welch), among others. He performed Madame Butterfly for the Singapore Dance Theater, the Royal New Zealand Ballet, the National Ballet of Canada and the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, among others. He also staged Clear for the Angel Corella company and The Merry Widow by Hynd for the US Tulsa Ballet in 2011.
