maría castillo

singer and composer

She was born in Sao Paulo (Brazil) and studied in La Plata. She joined the Teatro Colón Permanent Choir as a tenor, when she had her male identity. By 2011 she became a soprano, in 2014 she obtained her new ID and currently sings in the highest string of the choir. Her training as a pianist, her compositions and a personal journey that crosses prejudices guided by the right to decide in freedom are some of the many things she shares Talking about the Colón.

"Being a tenor and changing to soprano is a radical change, a life choice. The Theater accompanies diversity, embraces and includes, and that always moves me".
