Descripción

OPERA IN THREE ACTS (1724)
MUSIC BY GEORG FRIEDRICH HÄNDEL
LIBRETTO BY NICOLA FRANCISCO HAYM
BASED ON AN ORIGINAL SCRIPT BY GIACOMO BUSSANI

Perhaps one of the most famous couples in history, Julius Caesar and Cleopatra are the centre of the scene in this piece by Händel, who in the middle of the Baroque surprised everyone by composing not just for the patrons, but for the audience. After the success of Die Soldaten in 2016, Pablo Maritano revisits this sensual adventure, which combines the overwhelming force of love with its political consequences. Of love, to sum up, as the engine of history.
