THREE FILMS BY LUIS BUÑUEL WITH ORIGINAL LIVE MUSIC BY MARTÍN MATALÓN
Both because of the rich innovation in tones and instrumentation and because of his combination of musical and audiovisual art, the work of the Argentine-French composer Martín Matalón suggests a renewal of contemporary and incidental music. He stimulates an approach of academic music to more visible and open stages. This program presents three films by the great Luis Buñuel, in which surrealist language is already consolidated, with original music for a live ensemble: AN ANDALUSIAN DOG (1928) + THE SEVEN LIVES OF A CAT (1996); LAND WITHOUT BREAD (1932) + TRACES II (THE GOAT) (1996); THE GOLDEN AGE (1930) + THE SCORPION (2002). Matalón presents the trilogy in the same concert for the first time.
