Israel Philharmonic Orchestra
The legendary Israel Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 1936 by violinist Bronislaw Huberman and its inaugural concert, in 1936, in Tel Aviv, was directed by Arturo Toscanini. Today, the Philharmonic of Israel annually runs important musical centers and international festivals. Each season, it receives the best directors and soloists, it helps promoting new Israeli composers and supports the development of young instrumentalists both from Israel and abroad. It has been conducted by Leonard Bernstein, Kurt Masur, Yoel Levi, among others. In 1968, Master Zubin Mehta was appointed Musical Advisor, in 1977 Musical Director and in 1981 he became his Life Musical Director. Together with the famous Argentine pianist Martha Argerich, they will return to the Teatro Colón stage.
