Hoffmann´s Tales

Descripción

Opera in three acts, with prologue and epilogue (1881)
French libretto by Jules Barbier
Based on stories from E.T.A. Hoffmann

TEATRO COLÓN NEW PRODUCTION

Despite the multitude of characters and situations, the argument is simple: the eternal flow of life. Based on Les contes fantastiques d'Hoffmann, a play by Jules Barbier and Michel Carré, who were inspired by some of the tales of the German E.T.A. Hoffmann. On a night of drunkenness in the city, Hoffmann tells how he wooed and lost three girls, his impossible loves: Olympia, a mechanical doll which only he believes is really human; Giulietta, the courtesan who steals his mirror reflection; and Antonia, a young girl who sings until she literally dies.
