OPERA IN THREE ACTS (1998) LIBRETTO PHILIP LITTELL, BASED ON THE HOMONYM PLAY BY TENNESSEE WILLIAMS
TEATRO COLÓN NEW PRODUCTION
For the first time, this creation of the American pianist, orchestra director and composer, of German origin, André Previn arrives at the Teatro Colón. The lyrical version of the homonym classic by Tennessee Williams was written for soprano Renée Fleming, who premiered it in 1998 at the San Francisco Opera. Undoubtedly, the iconic character of the universal dramaturgy deserved operatic carnival: Blanche Dubois, a mature woman from the southern United States with aristocratic airs but come down, forced to move to her sister Stella´s narrow flat after the indifference and subsequent reaction of his savage brother-in-law Stanley Kowalsky, she finds refuge in madness.
