In 1974, the English dancer Kenneth MacMillan (1929-1992), then artistic director of the Royal Ballet of London, created a choreography about the story of Manon Lescaut, but he chose not to use the music of Massenet’s opera, but other well-known pieces of that musician. He created a grandiose ballet, featuring thrilling roles for principal dancers and for the corps de ballet as well.

This is a story of a young hero and a young heroin getting together in their innocence, with a love revealed throughout several pas de deux.

Permanent Ballet

The Permanent Ballet of the Teatro Colón was born of the concern that in the nineteenth century arises in Buenos Aires to have national artists who satiate the thirst for ballet awakened by the visit of countless foreign companies. It was in 1925 when the company's debut was realized.
