Aida
OPERA IN FOUR ACTS (1871)
LIBRETTO BY ANTONIO GHISLANZONI
TEATRO COLÓN PRODUCTION (1996)
110 years after the opening of the current building of the Teatro Colón, the opera with which its curtain was first drawn is being restored: Aida. An emblematic title of the great Giuseppe Verdi, in which all his experience in the field of opera is resumed, tells the story of the Ethiopian slave whom Radames, the captain of the Pharaoh's guard, falls in love with. Torn between his loyalty to his country and the dictates of his heart, he must also deal with the desire of Amneris, the Pharaoh's daughter, who professes an unrequited love for him. The setting by late Roberto Oswald will be the framework for this great show that will dazzle with its visual display and the power of the music.
