Voices from a Forgotten World

Voices from a Forgotten World

Descripción

These works by Crumb provide music to texts by Federico García Lorca, among which are the four Books of Madrigals written during the late 1960s.

Dedicated to the distinguished Italian pianist Emanuele Arciuli, Ancient Voices of Children is from 1970 and earned him worldwide acclaim.

Composed for soprano, boy soprano and a wild variety of instruments including a mandolin, a musical saw and a toy piano, it is a dramatic masterpiece that influenced a whole generation of composers through the use of quotation, extreme colors and dynamics and one of the most astoundingly difficult vocal parts of the 20th century.
