The Rhine Gold
OPERA IN ONE ACT (1869)
Libretto in German by Richard Wagner
New Teatro Colón production
Prologue of Richard Wagner’s cycle of four operas, The Ring of the Nibelung. This piece starts narrating the events leading up to Siegfried’s death and the beginning of a new era for mankind. In summary, this spectacular piece speaks, based on German mythology, of the fall of the old gods and the beginning of a new era.
With this first production, Teatro Colón resumes a path that had already been taken in other seasons: stage, year after year, the remaining three operas (The Valkyrie, Siegfried and The Twilight of the Gods).
